"Lily White Field Station - Eagle Creek District - Baker County - Wallowa Mountains"
[Appears to be:] Robert Ward. The sign reads: "Lily White Mining Camp. A gold mine camp established in the early 1860's and named after the wife of the camp boss. Population is said to have reached about 1000 souls including Chinese labor. According to mint reports $500,000 in gold was mined. When the mines played out, an oft told story relates that mine owners buried upwards of 100 Chinamen in a mine shaft rather than pay their wages."
