Eastern Oregon University Powwow

The Eastern Oregon University Powwow started in 1970 or 1971.
Powwows serve as a gathering for the community, fostering dancing, singing, socializing, and the rejuvenation of old connections while forging new ones. It’s a moment to both preserve existing traditions and establish new ones. The Eastern Oregon University powwow is a festive occasion where gratitude is expressed to friends and family for their support and guidance. Additionally, it’s a platform to acknowledge graduates and alumni. Over time, it has evolved into a tradition of honoring maternal figures, female relatives, veterans, and all those who have contributed to our upbringing.
Eastern Oregon University's Grand Staircase

The Italian Renaissance Revival Grand Staircase was built in 1928-29 as part of the new Eastern Oregon Normal School used as a primary connection between the school and the community along with various events. The annual Evensong event was held on the staircase until 1972.
