"March 1912 - Heavy going on way to Billy Mdws. Drivers of the wagons thought it was heavy-going here but fount it much worse later on. Each crate held three elk, horses were doubled up, as shown here, when needed because of steep pitch in the road, or when the snow was too deep for two horses to pull the load alone."
