"Chief Joseph's widow, To-Ka-Ma-Po" She looks very old here. She is using a walking stick, but amazingly, she has a large bundle of sticks for fire kindling on her back.

An old church in Enterprise, OR with a tall steeple. [There is a photograph of a very similar looking church in "History of Elgin, Oregon" by Bernal Hug (page 159, picture no. 108). The caption reads: "Pine Grove Church."]

"Early Wallowa" The town is visible off in the distance, and there is a split rail fence running along the foreground.

"Perry area?" There are three people standing on or near the train tracks at the right of the picture where the white rail fence is located. Other than the tracks, this is mostly a scrubby forested area.

"Perry area?" This is a very rural area with only a few signs of man's intrusion. There are electricity poles and a wire fence.
