During his three months on Biak, Hill frequently documented the remains of Japanese resistance and the Allies' ultimate triumph. Here, he probably records the abandoned wreckage of the first tank battle of the New Guinea Campaign: 'M-4 Shermans of the 603 Tank Batallion shot their Japanese Type 95 Ha Go opponents to pieces."
