On Biak, he regularly visited this 'Canteen Corps' pavilion and enjoyed the drinks and snacks and company. Over the course of the war 163 million cups of coffee, 254 million doughnuts, and 121 million meals were served by the Canteen Corps (105,571 volunteers in 1942-43)."
