Description
An account of the resource
"This picture is of (left to right) Art Weigle, Frank Bay, Nate Zweifel and Claude Mackey. The man in the background was a Presbyterian minister. The rabbits were for a feast to be held in the Foley Hotel. At the feast they boiled the rabbits until done, then poured champagne in the pots, then poured other types of liquor in. The feasters all got drunk from eating rabbit. This picture was taken in the winter of 1912 in La Grande, Oregon. Art Weigle died in 1945. Frank Bay was killed within a year after the picture was taken. Nate Zweifel now runs a plumbing shop in La Grande. Claude Mackey is now a retired postal clerk. This tale was told me by W.A. Benham, La Grande fire chief at the time of the picture. His fire station can be seen in the background at the left. The large building in the background is the Presbyterian Church."
