Description
An account of the resource
"Sgt Bob Casey showing breech mechanism of Japanese coastal artillery gun. Abandoned on South coast of Biak" From "Darkroom Soldier": "Abandoned Artillery. On the south coast, Hill photographed his friend Sgt Bob Casey staring into the open breech of an eight-inch Japanese artillery piece mounted in a defensive position. This may be one of the 'large guns...awaiting emplacement on the Bosnek beaches, while others in the same area, including a second 6-inch coast defense gun, had been destroyed by Allied air and naval bombardment prior to the landings."
