The '65-'66 squad tied the Oregon Collegiate Conference scoring record of 15 wins and 1 loss. The team also posted the longest winning streak ever attained by a Mountaineer squad in the history of Eastern Oregon College. The Mounties captured the Oregon Collegiate Conference Championships for the third year in a row and were District 2 N.A.I.A. runners-up to the National Tournament in Kansas City. The Mounties had two players, Randy Dolven and Dave Smith, gain recognition on the All-Conference first team. Craig Humphrey was a member on the second string All-Conference team. In pre-season play, the Mounties scored 100 points in four games, and led the Oregon Collegiate Conference in offensive points scored." [Story appears in the 1966 Mountaineer yearbook, pg. 172.]
